The Thurgood Marshall Law Library and the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs were delighted to join to celebrate the career of the late Constance K. Putzel ’45 during Alumni Weekend 2018. Last year, her son Art Putzel generously donated her papers to the Law School, and Director of Development Shara Boonshaft ’02 and librarian Joe Neumann worked together to identify documents that illuminated Connie’s career as a trailblazing woman in the male-dominated field of law in the 1950s and 1960s. Selected documents were digitized, enlarged, and put on display during the weekend (see picture below).
The Thurgood Marshall Law Library is interested in hearing from alumni from the 1950s-1990s who may have either ephemera, photographs, or other documents from their time at the University of Maryland or who have engaged in notable or significant work that might be of interest to researchers or the wider Law School community. Joe Neumann can be reached at jneumann @ law.umaryland.edu or via the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs.
